STOP PRESS!!
Last week I spent ages writing a report of LE JoG for the Hounslow Chronicle. It was duly emailed to them in plenty of time together with a couple of photos, they didn't have to do anything! Nothing appeared in the paper last week but this week they have published a heavily edited article about our achievements. It's a bit buried on page 26 but it's in there! :O)

Amazing effort!
We did it! We smashed it in fact. The mileage from Lands End to John O'Groats, 875 miles, was covered by 11.30am which was seventeen and a half hours after we began. We carried on tho and by the time we reached 6pm we had got more than halfway back again.
The total distance covered in 24 hours was 1449.1 miles! An absolute amazing effort by everyone who took part. It was lovely to see so many people supporting us.
Next step is collecting all the promised sponsor money :O)

We've only gone and done it

We've done it!! All 875 miles or 1408km from Land's End to John O'Groats!!!!
In fact, we've done so much mileage now that we have started again and have already got as far as Bristol. Everyone has done so well but the Beavers and Cubs have excelled themselves and achieved so many more miles than we estimated and it is this in particular that has pushed us so far ahead now.
Watch this space, there is an outside chance that we may do it twice over!
Land of the Brave
It's 1am and we're doing incredibly well
1 o'clock in the morning and we are ahead of schedule!!
We've had lots of people visiting us and putting in a few miles. Spirits are high, we have a tv and are watching reruns of old Gangshows. We do love a good old sing song at 4th!
Look at how far we've come now!! 364 miles which means we are getting on for halfway. :O)

Are we nearly there yet?
well no, not yet BUT in 3 hours we have travelled as far as Exeter. We have done 159 miles so far!!! Pretty good going I think. Noone has keeled over yet, everyone is in good shape and the miles are slowly ticking away. The pizza order is just about to go in....got to keep those athletes fuelled :O)

Today's the day!
Are you ready? Today's the day! Just over six hours to go now until we begin our virtual journey across the UK. I'm sort of looking forward to it but also dreading it at the same time and wondering what sort of physical condition I will be in at the end of it. I DO know however, that it is going to be great fun. We are sure to have plenty of laughs along the way, some of which will be supplied by some of the silly costumes that I know some people are planning to wear - myself included :s
I shall be sure to take lots of photos throughout the 24hours and will post the best ones here on that blog and also on the Facebook LEJoG event page.
It's not too late to sponsor us! Just use the paypal link at the top of the page or give your cash to someone in person.
Thanks for all your support :O)

Look!

This is the flyer that has gone out to all the local shops and schools, looks good doesn't it!
It has been done for us by the gym because they are also running an open day alongside our fundraiser. Let's hope that lots of extra people visit the gym that day to see what is going on and maybe pop a few pennies in our buckets while they are there. :O)

This time next week!!!

it will all be over!! Less than a week to go now so just time for a few last minute training sessions and time to ask those last few sponsors to donate.
I've learned that marathon runners eat a lot of carbohydrates in the couple of days before a race so I am assuming that the same may be good for us too. Does this mean I can eat cake?

The T-shirts are here

Apparently the promotional t shirts have arrived and will be available to order shortly. They look great don't they! We need to get wearing them out and about to raise awareness of our event and get that sponsorship coming in.
Speaking of which, remember I told you about the old boys reunion last weekend? Well, they are even more generous. a lovely cheque arrived in the post today boosting our total beautifully.
Hey!!! if we can get the money to keep coming in then maybe I won't have to do this run after all!
only joking :O) training is going well and we are hoping to do some filming in the gym in the next few days so that we can make a short dvd to promote the event too.
Keep on running!!

Motion sickness?!!

Another day another session in the gym. And now it appears, the excuses are beginning to creep in. I have NEVER heard of anyone getting travel sick on a static bike but that's what our esteemed leader claimed today!!!!
We shall just have to make sure we remember to pack the travel sick medicines into the first aid kit on the day!

Keep on Running
So, sponsor forms have gone out; posters are up; facebook event page is looking good and the blog is running well. We are beginning to get some donations through the blog website now which is brilliant. Please keep telling everyone you know, every donation helps no matter how small.
Training is well underway for some of us (tho to be honest, I'm not sure I'm going to survive this!) and the t-shirts are being printed. It's all systems go!!!

Le Jog
4th Heston Scout Group desperately need a new minibus and to raise some much needed funds we are embarking upon a marathon event. Some may even say its total madness!!
We are intending to cycle, row, walk, run even crawl if we have to, the 875 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats in only 24 hours.
This will take place at the gym attached to Heston School over a 24 hour period, during which time we hope that as many of the members of 4th Heston (both young and old!) will join us to put in a few miles.
We need your sponsorship and donations and a few good wishes to speed us on our way.
Every current member of the group will have a sponsor form and snail mail of course works as well as it ever did. All donations will be very gratefully received as we are aiming to raise in the region of £5000.
